It all started on 21st May 1992… so PAMIS celebrates their 25th anniversary today! In these twenty-five years they have grown from a small charity to a well-established and valued part of the voluntary sector.
PAMIS – Promoting a More Inclusive Society – is the ONLY organisation working solely with people with profound and multiple learning disabilities and their families for a better life. We also work with professional carers and other organisations that support people with PMLD.
PAMIS is acknowledged as a centre of excellence for research, education and service development in the area of profound and multiple learning disabilities, both nationally and internationally.
PAMIS is a registered charity. It was established in 1992 and works in 5 geographical areas across Scotland.
There is no charge to families for any of PAMIS’s services.
In 2017, PAMIS is celebrating 25 years of providing
- practical help, advice, training and information
- individual support, and contact with other families
- assistance with achieving better access to community resources, whether mainstream or specialist
- the opportunity to influence policy and services significantly, both at local and national levels
